However, the potential of the Fitbit must be harnessed. Your time is valuable, which is why you should make the most of it by optimizing your Fitbit for your specific lifestyle goals.
1. Set it up properly
This may seem obvious, but many people do not pay enough attention to the way they wear their Fitbit. The Fitbit is a tracker, which means it must be worn correctly in order to accurately record your information. The display should be facing outward on the back of your wrist. The fit of your device is customizable, so you should make sure the strap is snug. If the device is too loose, it will not provide effective tracking numbers. 3. Customize your dashboard

If you are using your Fitbit primarily to track your steps and calories, then edit your dashboard to skip the information about food. You can eliminate any metric by pressing the Edit button on your device. When you hit the Edit button, you will see little circles appear next to each metric. Click the circle to eliminate the unnecessary metrics from your display. This will provide a focused, streamlined display that is catered to your fitness goals.
4. Set up your target heart rate
One great thing about the Fitbit is that it can track your heart rate, which provides more information about how many calories you burn in a day. You can also create target goals to refine your fitness regimen. The preset heart rate zones are intended for the general population, but are customizable. If the cardio zone heart rate is too high for your current fitness levels, then you can make the Fitbit more functional by changing the setting. Using the wrong heart rate zones can make your workouts too hard or too easy. The heart rate zones can be changed in the menu of your Fitbit. Simply tap on your Account icon and the Tracker tile will appear. When you click on this tile, you will see a Heart Rate icon. This icon will default to Auto, but can be turned off so you can input your own customized rates.
5. Pick the right time to charge
Some people take off their Fitbit at night, which makes it easy to charge. However, the Fitbit can be used for sleep tracking for more comprehensive fitness results. This is a powerful feature, but it can make it harder to find a time to charge the device. If you do wear your Fitbit at night, one charging solution is when you shower. This time is ideal since the Fitbit is not recommended for use during water activities, making it a regular time slot for charging that will not impact your fitness data. While most models require several hours to fully charge, you can regain a good chunk of your battery by doing it at this time. You can supplement other charging times throughout the day. Simply find the times that make the most sense for your lifestyle.
